Blackstar - David Bowie Tribute by chaiiro03 Blackstar - David Bowie Tribute by chaiiro03
:icondonotusemyartplz:

David Bowie was my idol. I "officially" fell in love with his music at age 14 and have been obsessed ever since. My love for his look, personality, music, fashion and overall aura truly took form once I obtained a record player and started an education in film studies. His music is phenomenal, it helped me deal through many troubled times. His film roles are always unique yet perfect. He was an absolutely inspiring person who broke many boundaries and changed music forever. I am still crying nightly from his death even four days later...

:heart:He will never be forgotten as he will always have an eternal place in my heart.

And for all those wondering why Bowie chose the name Blackstar for his last album...
Here's the scientific definition of a Blackstar~

A black star is a transitional phase that is created when a collapsing star is close to reaching singularity, where the star’s influence becomes infinite and spacetime itself ceases to exist within it. Although the star at this point has died, it has been transformed into something else altogether and its energy will continue to be released indefinitely...

Well, at the beginning when I got Blackstar literally on his birthday. I thought that he interested in death and whatever that was and then on two days later. He dies, I suddenly realised that he making his album as a farewell gift to all of us. So I decided to listened to Lazarus and heard he sings: "Look up here, I'm in Heaven" and I did seen the music video and I known that this video had entirely something to do with death. I was in love with his recent album, and then some days after his death I decided to listen to some of his albums, or masterpieces as we called. My favourite so far was Heroes.

In the way, way before his final album and his death, I did listen to few of his songs when I was in high school and at the beginning I wasn't really interested in Bowie (that's because I was young teenager who like Green Day and My Chemical Romance, before I discover good music such like The Who, Led Zeppelin, whatever that is). Bowie did creates all the albums, because he's very creative man. He creates different personas such like Ziggy Stardust and The Thin White Duke. He changed the world, he inspired and influenced us.

He was such a one hell of a man, he was a legend.

Rest in Peace, Ziggy Stardust.

I noticed the same thing when I listened to that song from his last album. I think he vaguely knew his time was coming to an end.

Thank you so much
I am still crying myself to sleep every night since the news. Falling asleep to his music is a comfort. He's probably hanging out with Freddie Mercury, John Lennon and Michael Jackson right now Music Music

Thanks for making this. A lot of people seem to dislike David Bowie. Granted, many of them did not see Labyrinth, arguably one of the best films of all, and many have not heard the famous line "Ground control to major Tom". Poor bastards.

People only dislike him for the same reasons people dislike John Lennon, Iggy Pop, Blondie, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Boy George, Elton John and many others because they're different. Bowie was an odd guy, he dressed eccentrically, he would talk circles around any interviewer, he was a forward thinker and his images/personas were obscure. But for all these reasons why people hate Bowie, is what I love most about him. Not only was his musical genius but he gave/told/showed the important lesson of how being yourself can get you far in life. Don't suppress yourself to the status quo. Be different, go against the current and live your life the way you want to.

Whoever dislikes Bowie (and/or other artists like him) and doesn't like him because they can't understand him are just simple sheep following the herd.

You're welcome, I put a lot of heart into it

(And P.S. Don't forget about his other films like: Man Who Fell to Earth or Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence or Just a Gigolo or The Hunger and many others)

I know. I just happen to, again, view The Labyrinth as one of the greatest films of all time, with Bowie's part falling under my top 5 original movie characters ever created. Plus, he sang all the music, so that was revolutionary as always.

I agree Labyrinth is indeed one of the greatest films of all time. It is what put me down the path of cinema studies in the cult fiction genre. He not only sang (including Toby's parts in Dance Magic Dance) all the music but he actually wrote every song, including the fire gang song. Only the instrumentals are done by Trevor Jones, the rest is Bowie. He has such amazing talent it's so saddening to see him gone.

Also, if you're interested I am a member of a film review site for SBCC and as tribute I wrote a review on Labyrinth. I'll leave the link if you'd like to read it.

He actually finished the album back in May of 2014, it was meant to be a thank you for his fans but once he learned of his cancer he worked on it more and tried to time it to his passing. He did know he was going to die and he died with much grace. Not many would react to that sort of news the same way.

I know how you feel... I'm still shocked by the new. Since I know he left us, I get obsessed with his music, I can't stop listening they albums, specially Blackstar (Lazarus). He knows he will die in a few months and the recorded a farewell album. I can't stop thinking about his death, his last album, the fact he knows all... we gonna miss him a lot...

He left us, but before that he gave us a very precious present that will keep him alive.

By the way, thanks for the definition of Blackstar. Impressive.

While I wish some people would have discovered him and his importance while he was still alive...It's still good people will look him up now that his name is everywhere and discover what a truly amazing artist he was.
